PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound recording device capable of recording one piece of music as a whole without omitting the head of music even when recording is started in the middle of the music in a device for recording a sound source provided by broadcasting or the like having a silence part between pieces of music. SOLUTION: In this sound recording device, when the silence of <=-70 dB and >=3 seconds is detected by a silence detecting part 2 then a sound is recognized, the address of a buffer 4 at this time is recorded in a RAM 6 and these data are simultaneously recorded in the buffer 4. When a middle recording request is generated, recording to the buffer 4 is stopped and recording onto a recording medium 5 is started from data flowing at present. When a recording stop request is generated, data held in the buffer 4 are edited and written up to a suitable area later. Afterwards, management information is changed to make the time context of data compatible.
