PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct proper image processing on the basis of a recognition result of noise characteristic information of an image input device. SOLUTION: The image processing unit is provided with a characteristic information recognition means 1 that recognizes one or both characteristic information of an image input means (scanner profile 30b) or an image output means (printer profile 31b), an image area separation means 2 that discriminates an attribute of an image from the received image data and separates the data for each image area, an image quality processing means 3 that applies image quality processing to the image data from the image input means, on the basis of the separated image area, an image area separation control means 4 that controls the separation processing of the image area separation means 2, in response to the result of recognition by the characteristic information recognition means 1, and an image quality processing control means 5 that controls the image quality processing of the image quality processing means 3. The characteristic information recognized by the characteristic information recognition means 1 includes noise characteristic information, with respect to a noise of at lest the image input means. |
