PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prepaid card system, reading device, and card discriminating method for detecting illegal copy using a reading device. SOLUTION: Two pieces of card information R1 and R2 are recorded in a card information recording area 110 of a prepaid card 100. Featured areas L1 and L2 specific to each card are formed in the card information recording area 110 according to the error of a card size and the error of the recording position of the card information. The distance data of the featured areas are recorded as the featured data of the card, and enciphering processing using the distance data is operated. The two pieces of card information are alternately rewritten for each consumption processing in a reading device, and the distance data of the featured areas are obtained and compared with the featured data of the card. As for the featured data corresponding to the card information which is not rewritten, the featured data at the time of inserting the card are compared with the featured data after the rewriting of the data so that whether or not the card is replaced during the processing of the reading device can be detected. |
