PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a zoom lens driven at high speed to realize very accurate tracking at the time of automatic focusing in zoom tracking operation performed with a tracking curve as reference. SOLUTION: Information on a focusing position in a state where the zoom lens is set to a telephoto side is stored in a focusing optimum position storage part 9, and such a position is set to an optimum object distance in present photographing environment. Thus, very accurate tracking operation is realized by performing tracking with the stored optimum object distance position as a target when a high-speed zoom switch 11 is turned on and follow-up is difficult in automatic focusing zoom tracking by ordinary wobbling.
