PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an outer frame from breaking when cooled after sealing by setting heat contraction amount of an outer frame material after the outer frame material, a first substrate material, and second substrate material are heated at the same temperature to be smaller than heat contraction amounts of the first and second substrate materials. SOLUTION: Soda lime glass is used for a faceplate (substrate) 10 and a back plate (substrate) 1, and higlrdistortion-point glass is used for an outer frame 11. Linear expansion coefficient of the soda lime glass is about 85×10-7/ deg.C, and linear expansion coefficient of the high-distortion-point glass is about 83×10-7/ deg.C. When respective glasses are heated to 450 deg.C and cooled to a room temperature, heat contraction amount of the soda lime glass is about 110 ppm, and that of the high-distortion-point glass is about 30 ppm, and the heat contraction amount of the outer frame 11 is smaller. For example, LS-0206 is used as lower-melting-point glass 12. The outer frame 11 is not limited to the high-distortion-point glass, and may be made of an alloy having linear expansion coefficient close to that of the glass.
