PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a rectifier of an optical frequency level by providing a device for limiting at least a part of optical current flowing between metal a parts across a gap. SOLUTION: Light, incident on dipole antennas 1, 2, makes stationary waves thereon and generates a voltage and a current having an optical frequency of incident light on a gap 5 so as to attempt to flow a current through the gap 5. However, since a polarizing film 3 and a metal thin film 4 are provided, light emitted from an element 2 passes through the polarizing film 3 and the metal thin film 4 to reach an element 1. The component of the reflected light in the direction of a passing axis has its phase rotated by the metal thin film 4 and cannot pass through the polarizing film 3 and is reflected by the polarizing film 3. Ultimately, the reflected light is absorbed between the element 1 and the polarizing film 3 and the constitution of this device is such that the light cannot reach the element 2. Therefore, the device acts equivalent to an rectifier, to cause current to flow only in one direction.
