PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prepaid card system, reading device and card discriminating method for detecting illegal copy using a reading device. SOLUTION: At the time of encoding a prepaid card 100, card information recorded in the prepaid card 100 is reproduced by a magnetic head 54 for card information. At that time, reproduced outputs are changed according to the fluctuation of the ink accumulated amounts of printing on an area in which card information is recorded. Data obtained by quantizing the change of the reproduced outputs are recorded in the prepaid card 100 as featured data specific to the card. At the time of consuming the prepaid card 100, the card information is reproduced by a magnetic head 343 of a reading device, and the change of the reproduced outputs according to the fluctuation of the ink accumulated amounts is detected. The data obtained by quantizing the change of the reproduced outputs are compared with the featured data recorded in the prepaid card 100, and when they are not made coincident, the card is discriminated as an illegal card. |
