PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent cycle life characteristic by using a positive electrode active material selected from a group of substances consisting of at least one of oxide, fluoride, or sulfide of LiMn or LiMnMO. SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery is selected from a group of substances consisting of LixMnO2, LixMnF2, LixMnS2, LixMn1-yMO2, LixMn1-yO2-zFz, LixMn1-yMyO2-zSz, LixMn2O4, LixMn2F4 and the like (0<x<=1.5, 0.05<=y<=0.3, z<=1.0, M represents one of Al, Co, Cr, Mg, Fe, La), and the surface of the positive electrode active material is coated with metal oxide. In this process, material powder is coated with a metal alkoxide solution, and then, the coated powder is heated for production. The thickness of metal oxide is 1-100 nm. The metal oxide includes 0.1-10 wt.% of metal. |
