PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized image pickup device at a low cost where a memory capacity can be reduced. SOLUTION: The image pickup device is provided with an image pickup element 3, an A/D converter means 5, a YC signal processing means 10, a compression means 13, a recording means 21, a memory means 6, a plurality of memory control means 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, and a memory control changeover means 8 that selects one control line among control line to which the memory control means 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18 provide outputs, and connects the selected control line to the memory means 6, and one of the memory control means 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18 overwrites YC data outputted from the YC signal processing means 10 to storage area.
