PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate management of a path without the need for a low speed interface section. SOLUTION: In a network adopting this path management system consisting of a ring network and an ADM network interconnected by a single connection device 3, the connection device 3 is provided with a selection circuit 15 that switches a signal in the unit of sections, a time division switch circuit 16 that is connected to the circuit 15 and switches a signal in the unit of paths, a path identification information registration means that registers path identification information to identify the path of the ring network and the ADM network, and a path identification information designation means that designates path identification information. The selection circuit 15 and the time division switch circuit 16 manage path switching on the basis of the path identification information designated by the path identification information designation means.
