PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for operating the output command of a boiler upon mill trip during coal/oil mixed fuel firing operation, which are capable of restricting the lowering of load of a boiler to a limit of minimum necessity, by a method wherein the number of sets of employing oil burners under combustion is considered upon generating mill trip during coal/oil mixed fuel firing operation. SOLUTION: A simulated mill operating sets 13' is obtained by adding mill converted sets 27, obtained based on the employing sets of oil burner 26, to mill operating sets 13. Upon mill trip, a limit coefficient 16 is obtained by dividing simulated mill operating sets 13' after the mill trip by simulated mill operating sets 15' held at the time point, and a boiler output command 20, held at the time point of the mill trip, is multiplied by the limit coefficient 16 to obtain a boiler load limit value 21 whereby the boiler load limit value 21 is outputted as a boiler output command 23.
