METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PROCESSING INTER-EAR TIME DELAY IN THREE-DIMENSIONAL DIGITAL AUDIO

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an efficient and simplified device providing digital 3D sound by providing a first delay module for giving the selection of an optional delay in serration and a second delay module for selecting one of plural additional fraction delays. SOLUTION: An inter-ear delay line 254 includes an integer delay module 250 giving the rough estimated value of a desired inter-ear time delay and a fraction delay module 252 giving a very accurate additional time delay. By selecting concrete setting of both of the module 250 and the module 252 from plural prescribed delays, concentrated calculation required for interpolating a specific inter-ear time delay in the other cases is reduced or eliminated. A localization control module 270 gives a specific delay related with a left (or right) ear signal 260 and a right (or left) ear signal 262 giving the desired localization of a sound image.
