<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image signal processing unit that can segment a picture in an optional area from an original picture so as to compress the picture without grading the quality. SOLUTION: The image signal processing unit is provided with a 1st compression expansion processing means (an inverse variable length coding means in this embodiment) that applies reversible expansion processing to a compressed image signal, a 2nd compression expansion processing means (quantization and DCT processing section) that applies irreversible expansion processing to the expanded image signal, a liquid crystal display section that displays the expanded image signal, an operation button that is used to select an area to be segmented from the displayed image signal, and a segmentation means that segments an image signal corresponding to the area selected by the operation button in the image signal expanded by the 1st compression expansion processing means, and the 1st compression expansion processing means (variable length coding means in this embodiment) compresses the image signals segmented by the segmentation means to obtain compressed image data.</p> |
