PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct image data belonging to a distortion area at high speed by recognizing the distortion area corresponding to the binding margin section of an original, corresponding to luminance information of the image data. SOLUTION: An original shape storage section 20 detects the shape of an original and a distortion area corresponding to the binding margin of the original on the basis of the luminance of image data obtained by picking up the original placed on an original platen by an image pickup section 14, and a tilt correction arithmetic section 24 corrects the tilt of the original, when the original is tilted. A distortion correction arithmetic section 22 applies magnification processing to the image data belonging to the distortion area in the image data, whose tilt is corrected or the image data without a tilt according to a stored pattern in a parameter storage section 18 and applies luminance correction to the data to enhance the luminance and further applies luminance correction to emphasize the edge of characters/graphics to the picture data whose luminance is corrected. |
