PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and highly accurately measure not only the appearance quality of an opaque object but also the appearance capacity and transparency of a transparent object. SOLUTION: A stage 2 supporting an object 1 to be measured, a light irradiation means 20 for irradiating the object 1 to be measured supported on the stage 2 with light and a light detection means 30 containing an object lens 10 and detecting the reflected light from the object 1 to be measured to calculate the quantity of light thereof are provided. By setting the surface luminosity of the stage 2 to 5 or less, since the diffused reflected light from the stage in the reflected light distribution of the light transmitting through the object to be measured to reach the stage can be reduced in such a case that the object to be measured is a transparent object, the transparency or appearance capacity of the transparent object can be measured highly accurately.
