PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an iris camera that is made small in size, whose power consumption is low, and the service life of the lamp of which is extended. SOLUTION: This iris camera is provided with a camera 1 that picks up an image of an iris and a light source 4 placed on the same optical axis as with a picked-up image light of the camera 1 opposite to the camera and emits a light to the iris. An optical axis refracting device 3 is places about in the middle between the camera 1 and the light source 4 coaxially and refracts respective optical axes of an image pickup light 12 and a light 11 of the light source 4 towards the iris. A camera case 13 is driven by a TILT motor 7 in a TILT axis 15, and the light 11 of the light source and the image pickup light 12 are turned horizontally by an optical axis refracting device (mirror) 3 which is movable on a PAN axis 16. Through this configuration, the iris camera is contained in the same case with compactness, the illuminating light and the image pickup light are driven with high accuracy and with high efficiency. As a result, the iris camera is made small, the power consumption is reduced, and the service life of the lamp is extended.
