PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drain recovery system for a heat exchanger, which normalizes a deaerator, and prevents the loss of boiler water while having a good thermal efficiency, by a method wherein the control of the amount of drain, conducted to flow from an exhaust gas re-heater into the deaerator, is permitted. SOLUTION: In a drain recovery system 10 for a heat exchanger, in which steam, generated from a boiler 11, is supplied to an exhaust gas reheater 13 through a distributing pipe 12 and waste steam from the exhaust gas re-heater 13 is guided into a deaerator 15 through a steam trap 14 to supply the same into the boiler 11, further, water from a condensed water tank 16 can be supplied to the deaerator 15, a branched pipe 18, connected to the condensed water tank 16 through an automatic opening and closing valve 17, is provided at the downstream side of the steam trap 14 while the automatic opening and closing valve 17 is opened and closed in accordance with the pressure of the deaerator 15 whereby the pressure of the deaerator 15 is retained within a given range.
