PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an instrument for measuring displacement of engine valve from causing measurement errors due to the influence of a valve spring and, at the same time, to reduce the wiring space of the instrument by leading out the element wire of a sensor coil as it is. SOLUTION: The periphery of a sensor coil 13 wound around a bobbin 14 is covered with a shield pipe 2 made of a nonmagnetic metallic material. In addition, a vertical wiring hole 23 is formed in part of the pipe 20 in the circumferential direction for leading out the element wire of the coil 13 through the hole 23.
