A camera built into a car or two integrated mini-cameras in its headlights can read a speed restriction on a road traffic sign. This figure is passed to a computer to send on a command to a speed micro-alloy transistor (SMAT) that throttles back the engine to the speed indicated. Upon identifying the subsequent speed derestriction sign, the SMAT returns to its neutral position that can be reached by pressing a reset key.
