The invention relates to a device for handling objects in sheet form, in particular, at an enveloping station for inserts, which is characterised by a quieter operation even at high operating rates. To this end, a link motion is provided for lowering and raising insertion fingers (14, 15) which are moved back and forth by an actuating device (6) in relation to a base plate, both on the working stroke and on the return stroke. A link part (21) which is fixed to the housing is provided for the working stroke and a flexible shifting link part which is actuated automatically by the link feeler (17) is provided for the return stroke. The shifting link part ensures smooth respective transitions to the link part which is fixed to the housing.
