GENETICALLY MODIFIED PLANTS WITH ALTERED STARCH

摘要

Starch yield of wheat and maize plants grown under higher temperatures than control plants is increased by the introduction of a chimaeric gene comprisi ng a glycogen synthase coding sequence under the control of a promoter directin g expression and a terminator. A transit peptide for translocation of the glycogen synthase to the plant plastid may also be included in the chimaeric gene. The starch may also have altered processing characteristics, in particular an increased chain length.
