The software component is a component of an application program (9) with an interface (11) to a container (10). The container is a program, which has an interface (12) to the operating system (8) and can be directly called from the operating system. The container functions as a coupling element between a software component and the operating system and so provides an environment for the component to be run in. The software component can be called, started and run by the container, directly from the operating system (8) or via an internet browser. An interface (13) is provided for direct call up of the application program from the operating system and an interface (14) for call up of the application program via an internet browser (15). When the program is called, the processor (1) checks if the container, operating system or internet browser calls it.
