The ring has several cheek plates connected together by hinging pins and is closed using a shackle. The shackle is hinged about a coupling pin mounted in the end of a cheek plate. The right angle bend in the shackle effects the closure by partially wrapping round a pin mounted in the end of another cheek plate. |
