A magnetic disk cartridge provides reliable operation by protecting the magnetic disk media from dust without an increase in the torque of the magnetic disk media. The magnetic disk cartridge accommodates a magnetic disk media (4) rotatably in the space defined by an upper shell (1) and a lower shell (2). The upper shell (1) and the lower shell (2) are each provided with a liner (5, 6) on their inner surface opposed to the magnetic disk media (4). The upper and lower shells (1, 2) include their respective ribs (1b, 2b) outside the periphery of the magnetic disk media (4) to separate the media area (30) from corner areas (33). The ribs for at least one corner area (33) are cut to form vents (33a, 33b), and an adhesive trap (20) for collecting dust is attached to the inside of at least one of the shells in that corner area.
