An electrofusion coupler (14) suitable for joining the end of one reinforced thermoplastic pipe (12) to the adjacent and substantially axially aligned en d of another reinforced thermoplastic pipe (10), the electrofusion coupler (14 ) comprising an annular body to surround the adjacent ends of the pipes to be joined and heating means to weld the inside surface of the annular body of t he coupler to the plastics material of the outside surfaces of the pipes, where in the coupler (14) is provided with axial reinforcement.
