The invention relates to a method and device for working paper, board, or similar, in which method scoring, punching, perforation, or a similar operation is performed on the aforesaid material. The force for carrying out the work is created by means of an electromagnet (3). Scoring, for example, can be carried out by putting the paper (4) or similar between a scoring blade (34) and its counter-piece (21) and causing a rapid approaching movement between them, to carry out the scoring.
