The form (2) is aligned with a filling piston (8) and its associated hollow filling shaft, attached to the material store (7). Piston (8) is fixed in position and is initially outside the form. A second piston (5) is passed through the form from the opposite end (2') until it touches piston (8). The form is then advanced towards store (7) until both pistons are inside it. Filling can now start. As the material leaves piston (8) piston (5) is pushed back. The piston rod (6) enters a hydraulic cylinder at its other end so that the filling can be pressurized to suit the material being filled. At the end of the filling cycle the form is freed from the pistons, moved into another position and fitted with end caps (9). Should a heat treatment, such as pasteurization, be required the sealed form can be placed in a hot water bath (10). The filling is removed from the form by a piston similar to piston (5, 6). The process is carried out in an automatic installation in which the forms are moved between stations by a transport mechanism (3). |
