Process for the preparation of nitrous oxide

Dinitrogen monoxide (N2O) is prepared by catalytic reduction of nitrogen monoxide (NO) with a reducing agent in the gas phase by heterogeneous catalysis. Process for production of N2O by catalytic reduction of NO with a reducing agent, with heterogeneous catalysis of the reaction in the gas phase. An Independent claim is included for the use of N2O as a reagent in the hydroxylation of benzene to phenol.
