Protective element (4) comprises a plastic material of polyphenylene sulfide with a proportion of polytetrafluoro ethylene. The plastic material is enriched with a black filler e.g. carbon fibres that absorbs irradiation. The plastic material comprises a volume proportion of 25-35% carbon fibres and from 10-20% polytetrafluoro ethylene. An Independent claim is for an optical plug.
