The invention relates to a process and a device for making a fibre material band. In the process, a bale is guided to a disintegrator 3, in which the fibres in the bale are detached from one another. After this, the fibres are processed in a transport and processing device 5 and additive can be added to the fibres and they can be transported either to an intermediate store 12 or directly to the manufacturing process. The production of the fibre band is realized by guiding fibre 1a via the sealing device 6 to a pressurized supply chamber 9. The fibres 1a are squeezed under pressure into a narrow channel 9d, in which the fibre mass 1b is compressed into a band 1c under the influence of the resistance generated in the channel. The fibre is removed from the channel as a continuous band 1d and, if required, is led via calibrating press members 10 for storage, for example, on a spool 11. <IMAGE>
