PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to mutually utilize an existing electronic scope for a former type processor and a new type processor, by rewriting rewritable information in a nonvolatile memory of the electronic scope. SOLUTION: When an electronic scope is used for a new type processor instead of a former type processor, the data in an EEPROM housed in the scope is fetched (step S14) and stored in a memory card (step S20). Then, the fetched data is converted to the data having a format available for the new processor (step S26) and the data is written in the EEPROM (step S30). If the data is short, the data is appended. On the other hand, the scope whose data is rewritten is used for the former type processor again, a data file stored in the memory card is selected (step S32) and the data in the file is rewritten into the EEPROM (step S30).
