PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the sound insulating property of a transmission tunnel part without impairing the operability of a shift lever. SOLUTION: A sound insulating box 30 is mounted on the lower surface of the floor panel 20 of an automatic transmission operating part 10 and a good sound insulating effect is achieved by the three-wall structure of the sound insulating box 30 comprising a box wall, a panel sealant 15 and a cover plate 14. Also, the sound insulating box 30 is provided with an opening 33 through which a connecting lever 17 is passed, and the length of a cylinder 40 having a sealing function and provided at the connecting lever 17 is set to be longer than the sliding stroke of the connecting stroke 17 so as to assure good sealability. The sound insulating box provided with an opening permitting the movement of a shift lever 13 is mounted on the lower surface of the floor panel 20 of the transmission operating part 10 and a sound-absorbing material 63 is affixed to the interior wall of the floor panel to enhance the sound insulating property of a floor transmission part.
