PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject compound useful as an intermediate for a medicine, or the like, and excellent in optical purity, in good yield by reacting an α,β-unsaturated compound having a specific electron-attractive substituent with a boronic acid derivative in the presence of a specified transition metal and an optically active phosphine compound. SOLUTION: (A) An electron-attractive group-substituted olefin derivative of formula I (R1 to R3 are each a 1-20C alkyl with the proviso that both of R1 and R2 are not simultaneously H; E is an alkoxycarbonyl, cyano, or the like), (e.g. trans-diethyl-1-propenylphosphonic acid ester) is reacted with (B) a boronic acid derivative of formula II (R4 is a 2-20C alkenyl or a 6-20C aryl; X is OH or o-catecholoxy; (n) is 1 or 2), (e.g. phenylboronic acid) in the presence of (C) a complex of group VIII transition metal [e.g. 2,4-pentanedionatobis(ethylene)rhodium(I)] and (D) an optically active phosphine compound to provide (E) the objective compound of formula III. |
