PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst carrier which has a larger surface area and has excellent heat resistance in order to improve the performance of an ammonia denitrification catalyst by reacting a mixture containing a titanium alkoxide and a silicon alkoxide in a nonpolar solvent and firing the resulted reaction product. SOLUTION: The titanium alkoxide and the silicon alkoxide are expressed in general formulas by Ti(OR1)(RO2)(RO3)(OR4), Si(OR1)(RO2)(RO3)(OR4), where R1 to R4 may be the same or denote different hydrocarbon groups. Both alkoxides are preferably mixed at the Ti/Si atom ratio (weight) of >=5. The nonpolar solvent is used as the reaction catalyst and is adequately aliphatic hydrocarbon, alicyclic hydrocarbon, aromatic hydrocarbon, etc. At the time of production, the mixture of both alkoxides is heated in the range of 200 to 350 deg.C and thereafter, this reaction product is fired in the range of 500 to 1300 deg.C. |
