PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and enantio-selectively obtain an optically active alde hyde useful as a biologically active substance for perfumes, medicines, etc., an intermediate for functional materials such as liquid crystal by hydroformylating a specific olefin compound in a gas phase system by using an optically active polymer-supported rhodium complex as a catalyst. SOLUTION: An olefin compound of the formula R1-CH=CH-R2 [R1 is a (substituted) alkyl or the like, and R2 is H or an alkyl] is hydroformylated in a gas phase system or supercritical fluid (preferably supercritical carbon dioxide), preferably at 40-90 deg.C for 30 min to 30 hr by using an optically active polymer-supported rhodium complex preferably having structural units represented by formulas I to III [Ar is a (substituted)phenyl; W is 1,5- cyclooctadiene or the like; Y is H or a halogen; (p) and (q) are each 0-2; R3 is H or a lower alkyl; (k) and (n) are each 0-100; and (l) and (m) are each 0-1,000] as a catalyst to provide the objective compound of formula IV (* is an asymmetric carbon).
|
