BAY COOLING TURBINE CASING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve cooling efficiency of a turbine casing. SOLUTION: A turbine casing 28 supports a row of nozzle stator blades 30, and a high temperature combustion gas flows therebetween. A baffle 50 encompasses the casing to define a cooling duct. A nacelle 42 encompasses the turbine easing to define a bay 44, comprising an inlet which takes in the bay air and an outlet which discharges the bay air. The cooling duct has an inlet 54 which takes in the bay air that flows along the turbine casing for selective cooling of the casing.
