PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a rubber composition excellent in tensile characteristic, wettability, rolling resistance as well as processability by dissolving a butyl-based rubber and a diene-based rubber in a solvent and mixing the obtained solution. SOLUTION: This composition is produced by dissolving a butyl-based rubber (A) such as a brominated butyl rubber and a diene-based rubber (B) such as a styrene-butadiene rubber preferably at a weight ratio of the component A to the component B of 5/95 to 50/50, more preferably 20/80 to 50/50 in a solvent (C) such as toluene preferably at 25 to 65 deg.C and mixing the obtained solution. Preferably when the components A and B are dissolved in the component C, the total concentration of the components A and B is 50-100 g/L.
