摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically produce methyl methacrylate substantially not containing biacetyl of a coloring material in good efficiency by reacting the biacetyl included in the methyl methacrylate with an aliphatic compound having amino groups in the molecule, and removing the product. SOLUTION: Biacetyl included in methyl methacrylate is reacted with an aliphatic compound having three or more primary or secondary amino groups in the molecule, and the reaction product is removed therefrom to provide the objective compound. The aliphatic compound has >=150 deg.C boiling point and preferably is diethylenetriamine or triethylenetetramine. The amount of the aliphatic compound to be added is preferably 1-50 mol equivalent based on the amount of the biacetyl to be removed. The concentration of the biacetyl in the compound is preferably <=0.5 ppm. The contact of the aliphatic compound with the biacetyl is sufficiently carried out up to 5 min if the treating temperature is >=40 deg.C.
