PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently conduct the ballast collecting work from a track bed by liftably mounting a scraper conveyor positioning the tip behind rear wheels for collecting the ballast in the track bed on a deck supported on front and rear wheels rolling on a rail. SOLUTION: A first cylinder 12A, a second cylinder 12B and a jib crane 11 are operated to return all sections to their original positions, and a scraping member removed during transportation is fitted to a scraper section 9b. When the scraper section 9b is driven by a drive section 9a, the ballast collecting work is conducted by the tip 9b' of the scraper section 9b invariably located behind rear wheels 2', and the collected ballast is stored in a cargo frame provided on a deck 1 through first and second conveyors 13A, 13B in sequence. The load of a collecting vehicle is not applied to ballast recover portions, no reinforcing work is required for a rail, and the ballast collecting work can be conducted continuously and efficiently.
