PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a space required for a binding machine using a tape by simplifying its structure. SOLUTION: After forming a loop with a tape by running the tape in parallel with a front face 2a of a frame 2, the loop is tightened to bind an object to be bound. A side door 5 which rotates around an axis 6 of flap to be opened and closed is provided on a side face 2d of the frame 2. A tape roll 14 is contained in a housing space 13 defined between a rear face of the side door 5 and an opposed guide plate 12 thereto and is held by a holding member 16. When the side door 5 is opened to use the tape, the center 15 of the tape roll 14 becomes orthogonal to the running direction of the tape and, accordingly, the tape is capable of smoothly running. When the tape is not used, the side door 5 is closed by rotating it around the axis 6 and is put into the state of being flush with the side face 2b of the frame 2.
