PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a box type file in which, even when sheets impossible to be bound by a binding fitment, or sheets, roentgenograms, cards or the like of various sizes or thicknesses contained in the file and carried, it cannot be simply dropped out. SOLUTION: A box type file comprises two cover pars 11, 12 and a backbone 13 formed of a relatively hard material and integrally continuously connected, a binding fitment 14 made by aligning many pawls 14a on a cover sheet of the one cover and fixed in such a manner that the parts 11, 12 respectively have flat cover sheets 11a, 12a and surrounding walls 11b, 12b substantially vertically standing from outer peripheral edges of one or both insides of the sheets 11a, 12a of the cover. In this case, when the two covers are superposed to each other with connectors of the backbone 13 to the sheets 11a, 11b or a width direction intermediate part of the backbone 13 as hinges, the walls of the two covers are engaged with each other or the walls or the cover surfaces are brought into contact with each other to be constituted in the box type.
