PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the occurrence of conveyance abnormality caused by secular changes in a driven roller. SOLUTION: A determining device detects the condition of an output signal for every unit time, where a change in a condition, when a change in an original condition of the output signal of a rotation detector becomes 'nothing', and integrates the continuous detection frequency of the same condition (steps S1 and S2). When the integrated value reaches a first reference value, paper jamming is decided and a paper feed motor is stopped. When the integrated value does not reach the first reference value, temporary slip is determined, and it is determined whether or not the integrated value reaches a second reference value which is smaller than the first reference value (steps S2, S3 and S6). When the integrated value reaches the second reference value, the slip is determined to be caused by the degradation of the driven roller, so that the number of times of the slip is counted (steps S3 and S7). When the count value reaches a prescribed value, a notice of the degradation of the driven roller is given to a user (step S8 and S9).
