PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus wherein a blanket is mounted on the whole periphery under a specified tension when the blanket is mounted on a blanket cylinder. SOLUTION: One end 14a of a blanket 13 is fixed on a blanket cylinder 7 and another end 14b of the blanket 13 is hooked on a tension-providing means 17 and a specified tension is provided to the blanket 13 by moving the tension-providing means 17 in the direction separated from the blanket cylinder 7 while the blanket cylinder 7 is fixed and by controlling synchroneously the amt. of angle of rotation of the blanket cylinder 7 and amt. of movement of the tension providing means 17 and by moving the tension providing means in the blanket cylinder direction while the blanket cylinder is rotated, the blanket is wound on the blanket cylinder while the specified tension provided to the blanket 13 is held and another end 14b of the blanket hooked on the tension providing means is delivered to the second fixing part 16 of the blanket cylinder while the specified tension is held and it is fixed. In addition, when the tension is provided on the blanket, tensions applied on left and right of the blanket are made the same and when another end 14b of the blanket is delivered, the tensions applied on the left and the right of the blanket being made the same are kept.
