PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain the subject compound useful for synthesizing a medicine/an agrochemical, or the like, by carrying out the addition reaction of a secondary phosphite to acetylene in the presence of a specific catalyst. SOLUTION: In reacting (A) an acetylene compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are each H or a monofunctional group selected from an alkyl, a cycloalkyl, an aryl, a heteroaryl, and the like) (e.g. 1-octyne) with (B) a secondary phosphite of formula II (R3 is an alkyl, a cycloalkyl, an aralkyl or an aryl) (e.g. dimethyl phosphite), the reaction is carried out in the presence of (C) a palladium complex catalyst comprising 1,3-bisphosphinopropane of formula III (R4 to R7 are each an alkyl, a cycloalkyl, an aryl, or the like) as a ligand to give (D) an ester of formula IV (e.g. 1-octen-2-ylphosphonic acid diethyl ester). The amount of the component C added is preferably 1-0.005 mol%; based on the amount of the component A used. |
