PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air intake silencer for an engine capable of easily ensuring a limited space in an engine room and improving the silencing performance of low frequency in the downstream of an air cleaner. SOLUTION: A silencer 14 formed by fixing an expansion chamber 12 having substantially L-shape when viewed from a top face and a linear resonance device integrally and vertically is connected between an air cleaner 6 in an air suction passage 5 in an air suction system of an engine 1 and a throttle body 7. Consequently, the expansion chamber 12 and the resonance device can be installed in a narrow place in an engine room to utilize a space effectively and ensure the installation space simply. Furthermore, the silencing performance of low frequency in the downstream of the air cleaner 6 is improved.
