PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable operation with high heat engine efficiency, even at lean burn limit by controlling the lean mixture from being discharged outside as unburned content. SOLUTION: In this antechamber type gas engine, an antechamber 2 is provided above a main combustion chamber 1. An air-fuel mixture supplied to the antechamber 2 is spark ignited by an ignition plug 4 provided in the antechamber 2. The flame jet is ejected into the main combustion chamber 1 through a communicating hole 6a formed at the lower end of the antechamber. The communicating hole 6a is provided in an upwardly open angle so that the flame jet impinges against a ceiling surface 1a of the main combustion chamber 1.
