PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately adjust a degree of horizontality in the vertical and lateral directions when a fixing frame is fixed on a ceiling opening by providing a level on the center of the upper face of the fixing frame swingably supporting a collapsible ladder for an in-ceiling housing closet. SOLUTION: A ladder device 1 comprises a fixing frame 2, a cover 3 and a collapsible ladder 4. The fixing frame 2 is made a rectangular frame body comprising frame materials 6 and 7, the cover 3 is swingably and openably connected through a hinge 8, a lock mechanism is provided between the fixing frame 2 and the cover 3, and a link mechanism 15 is provided to prevent the sudden opening of the cover 3 by urging of a spring 16. The collapsible ladder 4 collapseably connect ladder constitution members 12, 13 and 14 by hinges 17 and 17 to be fixed on the cover 3 through a connection tool 11 so as to be housed in the fixing frame 2. A level 21 is provided on the center of the upper face of the frame material 7 to detect a degree of longitudinal and traverse horizontality. Thus, when the fixing frame 2 is fixed on the edge part reinforcing frame 34 of an opening 33 provided on a ceiling plate 31, the degree of the longitudinal and traverse horizontality can be accurately adjusted by the level 21.
