PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control pressure during deployment of an airbag by use of a small- output inflator which can be provided at a reduced cost. SOLUTION: This device includes a fresh air inlet port 3c formed in the vicinity of a position where negative pressure is produced when high pressure gas is supplied from an inflator 4 on the wall part 3b of a housing 3 communicating with an airbag 2 and enclosing the inflator 4 therein, a movable slit 5 provided to be able to switch the amount of communication of the fresh air inlet port 3c between an open condition and a closed condition, and a drive control means 6 for moving the position of the movable slit 5. When the fresh air inlet port 3c is opened by the movable slit 5, the amount of gas allowed into the airbag 2 is made greater than it will be when the fresh air inlet port 3c is closed.
