PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst carrier which has a larger area and has excellent heat resistance in order to improve the performance of an ammonia denitrification catalyst by reacting a mixture containing a titanium alkoxide and a silicon alkoxide in an alcohol solvent and firing the resulted reaction product. SOLUTION: The titanium alkoxide and the silicon alkoxide are expressed in general formulas by Ti(OR1)(RO2)(RO3)(OR4), Si(OR1)(RO2)(RO3)(OR4), where R1 to R4 may be the same or denote different hydrocarbon groups. Both are preferably so mixed that a Ti/Si atom ratio (weight) attains a range of 5 to 50. Further, various kinds of polyhydric alcohols, such as diol, triole and polyol, are used as the reaction solvent. At the time of production, the mixture of both alkoxides is heated and reacted in a range of 200 to 350 deg.C and thereafter, the reaction product is fired in a range of 500 to 1300 deg.C. |
