PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic closing or opening device for a manual or automatic door capable of fully opening the door opening, and an extensible rod to be used for it. SOLUTION: Three or more cylindrical bodies 11, 21, 31 are extensibly connected to each other so as to have an extensible distance H1 wider than the width H0 of the door opening A1. The extensible front end side of an extensible rod 1 constituted so as to extend or contract by a spring provided in the cylindrical bodies 11, 21, 31 is engaged with the door 6 and the rear side is fixed to a building side to transfer the door 6 to the closing side or the opening side.
